A Star in My Orbit

You have served me today,
a glistering offered in passing
and though the needing may want to keep you
may want to be saved
today I see you sovereign
your own body
and you have given, enough,
your words
a pressing made onto my path
a mandala of coloured sand
before returning to your own,
the sleep your one calls for.

And I feel shine eyed and grateful
as the light takes on a lustre
and it’s as if I’m seeing
my life as a cinematography,
a scene in its right place
in the long play
that this is my way
and for all its many potholes
and craters
I get to be privvy to your lightspells and
lightspills.

That I must have done something right
must have navigated the strewn stones
and sharp glass of my trail
enough to know you.

That this soft collision
these arcana
and spoken songs
are the reward
the soothsayer’s treasure
a star in my orbit
for saying yes
to being willing to live.
